  • Project Engineer

    Caldera Engineering is seeking a highly motivated project engineer. Key responsibilities for this position are to support customers through innovative engineering and design, provide on-going support of equipment through product innovation, manufacturing, installation, repair, and maintenance, foster customer relations worldwide, and ensure on-time delivery of quality product. 

    Job Duties

    • Learn and apply Caldera’s core technologies to help engineer and design customer-specified equipment to comply with customer needs and industry standards

    • Assess and evaluate existing equipment, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, increase quality, prolong service life, and reduce costs

    • Review technical and commercial contracts to ensure compliance to customer requirements and industry standards

    • Maintain consistent, prompt, informative, and courteous communication to strengthen relationships with customers, suppliers, and co-workers; treating all involved with integrity

    • Monitor progress of customer orders to ensure accurate on-time delivery

    • Evaluate and specify repair requirements for Caldera equipment supplied to customers

    • Interact with all Caldera departments to coordinate accurate and efficient order fulfillment

    • Travel to customer sites worldwide to support projects and seek new product applications

    Desired Skills & Abilities

    • Sound knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, fluid flow, thermodynamics, orthographic/schematic drawings, manufacturing processes and continuous improvement

    • SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD experience/competency, Microsoft Office proficiency

    • Strong written & verbal communication skills, comprehension, and technical writing ability

    • Project management experience including contract language experience

    • High Proficiency with Microsoft Office

    • Excellent personal skills: trustworthy, courteous, cheerful, self-motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and well-organized

    • Ability to be a Team player; support co-workers and wear multiple hats as needed

    Education

    • BS or MS Degree - Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering or related field

    Work Conditions

    • Office Environment – Project management and engineering conducted mainly in an office environment with limited hazards.

    • Machine Shop – Access to and involvement in Caldera’s machine shop will be required to properly manage projects, inspect parts, and assist wherever needed. Hazards associated with a manufacturing environment will be present.

    • Mine Sites/Ore Processing Facilities – This position requires travel to domestic and international mine sites that can often be in remote locations throughout the world.

    Responsibilities include building customer relationships, providing technical engineering support, inspecting and servicing Caldera equipment, and promoting Caldera products and services. Travel hazards and those associated with a mining and ore processing environment will be encountered.

  • Machinist

    Operate a variety of production machines such as CNC lathes, CNC mill, manual mill, saw, and waterjet. Perform machine maintenance on a periodic schedule. Read production drawings and use measuring tools to check dimensions according to engineering drawings. Ability to communicate well with others including engineering, design, and the quality departments.

    Job Duties

    • Set up and operate CNC mill / CNC lathes and other production equipment

    • Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures

    • Perform general machine maintenance

    • Use tooling to accomplish tasks

    • Monitor and adjust the feed and speed of machines during the machining process

    • Perform precise measurements by calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers

    • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machines

    • Inspect final products. Measure, examine, and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments and measuring equipment

    • Adjust tools for compensation or wear

    • Communicate drawing discrepancies with Quality Control and Engineering

    • Maintain machining equipment

    Desired Skills

    • Two-year certificate in machine tool technology and/or 5 years of machining experience

    • Knowledge and proficiency with CNC machining operations and manual machining
      Skills: mathematics, troubleshooting, monitoring, control, and tool selection

    • Self-motivated, dependable, detailed, and thorough

    • Strong active listening and critical thinking skills

    • Ability of operation monitoring

    • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members
